Fine Gael TD, Alan Dillon, has welcomed confirmation that works will be proceeding to tender for additional accommodation at Ballintubber NS.
The works will consist of a single-storey extension to the front and side of the existing building, internal alterations to create a new internal Corridor, and to relocate existing facilities together with all ancillary works, site works and services.
Deputy Dillon said: "I very much welcome this investment in the Ballintubber community. It is an excellent reflection on the work by School Principal, Brian McConnell, and the entire staff working at Ballintubber National School.
"These works will greatly improve the physical layout of the school, as well as providing additional for staff and pupils. I look forward to a contractor being appointed and works commencing as soon as possible."
Deputy Dillon added: "This is the second school extension for Mayo over the past month following the approval for an extension to St Oliver Plunkett NS in Ballina in June. These shovel-ready projects are key to providing local economic growth around Mayo and I will be prioritising similar projects with the recently formed new Government."
