Curley's raises over €1,300 for charity

Ballyhaunis GAA Clubhouse hosted a very special fundraising raffle on Sunday evening last, organised by Anne and Pauline Curley and the Curley family on behalf of the Haematology Patients Comfort Fund ‘Claddagh Ward’ UCHG.

In attendance were nurses Majella Coffey and Grainne Keavney from UCHG to accept the cheque for €1,325 raised by Anne Curley and family.

Majella and Grainne and all the nurses and doctors, medical staff and carers in our hospitals and nursing homes were thanked for their generosity, care and wonderful work at the frontline, particularly during the past four very difficult months.

Curley’s Bar located on Clare St has been fundraising for the best part of 50 years on behalf of many very worthy causes and through their famous Charity Bottle sitting on the bar.

Curley’s have contributed thousands of pounds and euro to various charities and organisations over the years. This latest fundraising event was inspired by the wonderful care received by Anne’s nephew Conor McCarrick, at UCHG.

Ann Curley thanked Ciara Buckley of Memories Thru a Lens, who donated a magnificent framed Mayo GAA jigsaw photograph as the super prize which was won by Paddy Murphy of Bracklaghboy, Ballyhaunis.

Ann also acknowledged the contribution of Ballyhaunis GAA players Shane Healy and Sean Gildea who raised €400 for the Haematology Unit by taking part in a kick-boxing exhibition during their recent travels in southeast Asia.

Ann Curley brought proceedings to a close by congratulating the prize-winner Paddy Murphy and thanking everyone for supporting this very worthy cause.

If you would like to contribute to this worthy fundraising event but have not had the opportunity, you can still donate by contacting Ann Curley at Clare St or by phoning Ann at (086 ) 8341012
