Road sign thieves urged to stop what they are doing

Mayo County Councillor Cllr Al McDonnell has appealed to 'whoever is responsible for a spate of road sign thefts in his area to stop what they are doing'.

Speaking at the June meeting of the Castlebar Municipal District of Mayo County Council this week, Cllr McDonnell said there had been a number of road signs stolen in the Ballyheane, Ballintubber and Clogher areas recently, including the theft of a Stop sign at a very dangerous location near the Ballintubber GAA pitch in Clogher.

He appealed to 'whoever was taking the signs, to stop', saying that the theft of these signs could lead to serious road traffic accidents and added: “I cannot understand the mentality of these people who go out into the dead of night and do this.”
