Councillor to do 100k inside 2k for Pink Ribbon

Castlebar based county councillor, Ger Deere, will be getting up on his bike tomorrow, Saturday, May 2, and will cover 100km.

The Saturday of the May Bank Holiday weekend traditionally saw hundreds of people hop up on their bikes and take part in the Mayo Pink Ribbon cycle, but this year's event has had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

However, this isn't going to stop Ger doing his own Pink Ribbon cycle, he said this week, stating: "On Saturday, the Mayo Pink Ribbon should be taking place. Unfortunately, it cannot go ahead. This is a serious set-back in funding for the committee. To mark the occasion, I will be cycling the 100km while staying within my 2km and donating what should have been the entry fee to Mayo Pink Ribbon.

"For anyone else that might want to do the same they can donate their fundraiser at: https://mayo-pink-ribbon-2020.everydayhero.com/…/get-started."
