Suspected cases of Covid-19 being treated in Mayo University Hospital increases

There were 33 confirmed cases of Covid-19 being treated in Mayo University Hospital as of 8pm last night, Wednesday, April 29 – the same amount of confirmed cases as the night before.

According to the latest data released by the HSE there were also 21 suspected cases of the virus being treated in the hospital. An increase of five suspected cases on the 24 hour period before.

Two of the confirmed cases were being treated in the critical care unit of the hospital the same as the night before, with two suspected cases being treated in critical care in the facility an increase of two from the previous data released by the HSE.

When it comes to bed capacity in the hospital there were four critical care and 35 general beds vacant at Mayo University Hospital as of 6.30pm last night.

The numbers of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the county continued to increase yesterday, with the latest data from the HSE showing that as of midnight on midnight on Monday, April 27 there were 478 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the county – keeping Mayo as the county in Connacht with the most confirmed cases with 131 more cases than Galway and Roscommon (148 ) , Leitrim (67 ), Sligo (116 ) combined.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre yesterday been informed that a total of 31 people with COVID-19 have died nationally and there have now been a total of 1,190 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland.

As of 11am Wednesday April, 29 the HPSC has been notified of 376 new confirmed cases of COVID-19. There is now a total of 20,253 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.
