St Pat’s housing refurbishment on track

Mayo County Council approved the raising of a €12.9 million loan for the provision of a 66 unit housing refurbishment scheme at St Patrick’s Estate, Ballina, by the Cluid housing association, during the council’s monthly meeting on Inishturk.

Ballina area councillor Jarlath Munnelly said that it was great that money was being invested in housing in the area but commented that at some point that money should also be put into social supports for the area.

Cllr Eddie Staunton said that the estate was “an eyesore” and the refurbishment was needed, while Cllr Johnnie O’Malley said that the refurbishment would bring unity to the community.
