Thirty-three confirmed cases of Covid-19 being treated in Mayo University Hospital

There were 33 people with confirmed cases of Covid-19 being treated in Mayo University Hospital as of 8pm last night, Tuesday April 28.

Of the 33 confirmed cases being treated in the hospital, two of them were being treated in critical care at the location.

Another 16 suspected cases of Covid-19 were being treated in the hospital last night. The latest confirmed figures of Covid-19 cases as of midnight on Sunday, April 26 showed that there were 466 confirmed cases in the county.

Nationally there were 745 confirmed cases being treated in acute hospitals across the state, with 309 suspected cases also in acute hospitals.

Of the 745 cases being treated in acute hospitals across the country, 113 were in critical care with 72 of them being ventilated cases and 14 suspected cases also in critical care and five of those suspected cases being ventilated cases.

Mayo (446 ) continues to be the county in Connacht with the largest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases having 134 more confirmed cases than Galway (332 ). The county also has 127 more cases than Roscommon (141 ), Sligo (117 ) and Leitrim (61 ) combined

Yesterday the Health Protection Surveillance Centre confirmed that 59 new people died from Covid-19, bringing the total number of deaths in Ireland to 1,159. Nationally there is now a total of 19,877 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the country.
