More Mayo talent showcased as part of Ireland Performs

Two more musical acts from Mayo have been selected to participate in Ireland Performs, a Culture Ireland initiative with Facebook Ireland that supports Irish artists to perform live online to a global audience. Over 120,000 people from across the globe tuned in to the first week of Ireland Performs.

Mayo husband and wife duo, Grainne Hambly and William Jackson, were the first to perform on Day 1 of Ireland Performs. Now, two more Mayo acts have been selected to feature in the initiative.

Billow Wood, a four piece multi-instrumental (harp, tin whistle, accordion and fiddle ) and multi-vocal band from Mayo will perform today, Monday April 27, at 3.30pm. They will perform tracks from their debut album which was released in March 2020, just days before the current Covid-19 closures. This performance will act as a live online launch of that album, Walls of Caves.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 28, Mayo musician Lisa Canny will perform live at 6.30pm. Lisa has performed with and written for some of the biggest names in pop music. For her live performance, she will mix her influences of pop, hip hop and RnB to make her own unique sound, accompanied by the harp and a loop pedal.

All performances can be viewed live or watched back afterwards on the Culture Ireland Facebook page
