Kiltimagh Knock United re-entering senior women's league

Soccer

Kiltimagh Knock United have recently taken the step of re-entering a senior women's team into the Mayo League. This will be the first time that KK will field a women's side since the magnificent WFAI Intermediate winning side back in 2007.

In 2011 and 2012 moves were made to get underage girls' football established in the club with the hosting of FAI Soccer Sisters camps. The first underage girls team – Under 12 - was fielded the following year in 2013 and the growth of the girls' game in CMS Park has been nothing short of phenomenal. Within a few years teams were being fielded at U14, U16 and U18.

Last year, for the first time ever, an Under 19 women's team was established and went on a great run in the second half of the season to finish a creditable runner-up in their debut season. For 2020, KK will have female teams at U8, U10, U12, U13, U15, U17, U19 and senior.

Players from the club have represented Mayo, Connaught and Ireland. As recently as last June there were two KK players on the history making Mayo Under 12 Gaynor Cup winning squad. Various items of silverware has found its way to CMS Park, most recently with the U13s winning the Mayo Cup.

All these achievements have only been possible with a dedicated band of coaches-managers who have got, and continue to get, fulsome backing from the club chairman and committee.

The club are always looking to recruit more players at each level. If interested, PM the club's Facebook page. Training for the senior women is on the astro on Saturdays at 5pm.
