Top International Vocalists for Mayo Music Extravaganza Concert

A stellar line-up of artists will take to the Royal Theatre stage on Friday February 28 in the forthcoming Mayo Music Extravaganza Concert, including three internationally renowned vocal soloists – Baritone David Durham; Mezzo Soprano Anne Marie Gibbons and Hugh Francis.

Baritone David Durham has performed in several leading musical theatres and operatic roles in the UK. He has appeared as a Baritone Soloist at the Royal Albert Hall and Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London and has performed solo recitals in both the UK and Ireland. He has appeared as an Actor on TV for both BBC and ITV.

Mezzo Soprano Anne Marie Gibbons is a former English National Opera Company Principal. Her many international credits include performances in Paris, London, Madrid, Adelaide, New York and Lausanne. Recent and future engagements include concerts with both the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and a return to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in 2021.

Australian born tenor Hugh Francis studied at Manchester's Royal Northern College of Music in the UK before spending two years on the Royal Opera Covent Garden's Young Artists Programme in London. He has since returned to Covent Garden, performing there over 150 times in many roles. Elsewhere Hugh appears in opera houses, concert halls and festivals in Adelaide, Amsterdam, Bergen, Bregenz, Dortmund, Geneva, Helsinki, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Singapore and Tel Aviv.

The vocal soloists will be accompanied by Aleksandr Nisse. Also performing on the night will be the Mayo Male Voice Choir, Uileann Piper Diarmaid Moynihan, Castlebar Concert Band, The Mayo Concert and Youth Orchestras and Castlebar Parish Choir. Proceeds will go towards the fit-out of the very impressive Mayo Academy of Performing Arts (MAPA ) building, a community rehearsal and tuition facility.
