Mayo’s small businesses and entrepreneurs urged to take advantage of Local Enterprise Week

The first week in March will see small businesses and budding entrepreneurs gather across the country for Local Enterprise Week 2020.

An initiative of the Local Enterprise Offices, thousands of attendees are expected at over 300 events across the country during the week aimed at supporting small businesses and fostering entrepreneurship.

The programme of events being run by Local Enterprise Office Mayo for Local Enterprise Week 2020 from Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6 will include business advice clinics, training programmes and information seminars.

On Thursday, March 5 an interactive workshop will take place with cross border trading expert Tony McNally, and Fergal Brophy of The UCD Innovation Academy, who will discuss the implications of Brexit for small businesses, the opportunities it can provide, and how developing your innovation skills is key for survival in today’s fast-changing world.

The week is an opportunity for small businesses and entrepreneurs to sample the range of supports that are on offer from their Local Enterprise Office related to a whole host of areas. This will include financial supports, selling, networking, Brexit support, social media workshops, LEAN programmes and sessions dealing with how to make your business more sustainable.

Elaine Moyles, Acting Head of Enterprise at Local Enterprise Office Mayo, added there would be something for everyone, including: "Brexit advisory clinics, financial management training, trading online, website planning and development, mastering social media, or simply, how to start a business. This is also a great chance to network and broaden your connections in business so use it to the advantage of your business, or business idea", she said.

The Local Enterprise Offices located in the local authorities and funded through Enterprise Ireland, support over 7,000 small Irish businesses and entrepreneurs nationwide.
