Westport moved into fourth place in the standings in the Connacht Junior League's top flight with a 29-7 win over Buccanners on the road last weekend.
The Westport scores came from a brace of David Keane tries with Kevin Corcoran also touching down for two five pointers and Ruaidhri Spellman getting their fifth try, while Dave Keane nailed three conversions and kicked one penalty in their victory.
The win has seen them push ahead of Castlebar in the league standings and go level on points with third placed Tuam after 11 games - the win has seen them move three points in front of their local rivals in the standings.
In the second tier of league action, sixth place Ballinrobe will host league leaders Dunmore in The Green on Sunday afternoon. Balinrobe won their last league outing 22-17 at home to near neighbours and have also been excelling in the Connacht Junior Cup of late - reaching the last four of that competition. Apart from the top three sides in the division, the rest of the teams are all very tightly compacted in the standings, with Ballinrobe finding themselves just five points off fourth place in the table and also two points off the bottom of the division.
The side who currently find themselves at the bottom of the table are north Mayo men Ballina - the Heffernan Park outfit will be on the road this weekend against Galwegians. While they are currently at the foot of the table on 14 points, they are just two points behind their opponents this weekend who are currently in fifth place in the standings. In their last league game, Ballina beat Corinthians 20-15 and they will be hoping to carry that form with them into this game.
In the third tier, league leaders Ballyhaunis will be hoping to keep their place at the top of the table when they host sixth placed Corinthians on Sunday. The east Mayo men have won five, drawn one and lost two league games so far this season and sit just in front of Creggs in the standings, with both teams on 27 points and third placed Ballinasloe just two points further back in a really tight race for the title. Ballyhaunis hosted Corinthians in the reverse fixture in their last outing and ran out 36-12 winners and will be hoping to repeat the trick this weekend.
