Eight Mayo sides will be in action in round four of the TP Brennan Connacht Cup this weekend, including Super League champions Castlebar Celtic and Westport United, who will head into the weekend on the back of big wins in the FAI Junior Cup in the past week.
Westport United booked their place in the quarter-finals of the competition with a 1-0 win over Kilkenny outfit Newpark FC, thanks to a Darren Browne penalty, while Celtic headed into the last 16 with a 2-0 on the road against Tolka Rovers, with Ioseph O'Reilly and Jordan Loftus getting the goals.
Celtic will be on the road again this weekend when they take on Roscommon and District League side Boyle Celtic. Boyle booked their place in this round of the competition with a 3-2 win away to St John's in the previous round - they are also currently in the middle of their domestic season and find themselves in fifth place in the top flight in their league, with five wins, six losses and one draw from their 12 games to date.
Westport United will travel north to take on Cliffony Celtic who booked their place in this round of the competition with a 2-1 win over Aughanagh Celtic. Conn Rangers are another Mayo League side who will be on the road when they take on Gort United, Conn got a walk-over from Mac Dara in the previous round, while Gort were 2-1 winners on the road against Kilshanvey United.
Ballyglass will welcome Corrib Celtic to Keavney Park on Sunday afternoon - Ballyglass had to go to extra time to see off Kikerrin United in the last round 2-0, while Corrib Celtic beat Swinford. The Galway based side are also in the middle of their league season and sit in sixth place in the Galway League's Premier Division, with four wins, one draw and six defeats from their 11 games so far this season.
Ballyhaunis Town, who dispatched fellow Mayo side, Partry Athletic, will be at home on Sunday when Ballinasloe Town come calling. The visitors are historically one of the big hitters in this competition and they saw off Merlin/Medtronic 2-0 in the last round - the visitors to Station Rise ply their trade in the Roscommon and District League and currently find themselves in third place in that table, but well behind runaway leaders, St Peters.
Ballina Town, who were given a walkover in round three by Glenview Stars, will welcome Salthill Devon to Belleek on Sunday afternoon - the Galway men put seven past Glenview Stars in the last round and are sitting in second place in their domestic league, just one point off the top and with a game in hand on the league leaders, Mervue United.
Claremorris will have home advantage when Galway Hibs come visiting this weekend, the south Mayo men were 4-2 winners over Carrick United in round three, in the same round their guests were 7-2 victors over Ballina Town B. Their league form this season hasn't been that great as they find themselves at the foot of the Premier Division in the Galway League at the minute, with just two wins from their 11 league game to date.
Ballyheane will head south to take on West United - their hosts are sitting in fourth place in the top flight of soccer in Galway, just six points off the top of the table and with a game in hand. Last time out, Ballyheane saw off fellow Mayo League side, Snugboro United 4-0, while West United were 2-1 winners over Ballisodare United.
In the TP Brennan Shield there is plenty of Mayo interest - also with Kiltimagh/Knock United travelling to Roscommon to take on CP Ajax, Glenhest Rovers will host Coolaney United, Ballyglass B will be at home to Calry Bohs, Kilmore will hit on the road to take on Corofin United and Claremorris B will be at home to Cam Celtic - in a game that will be played in Solar 21 Park Milebush on Saturday at 5pm.
