Newport woman takes chain of office for JCI Mayo

JCI Mayo recently held their annual inauguration, marking the election of Newport woman, Áine Mc Manamon, as the 2020 JCI Mayo President.

Between her travels, McManamon has been actively involved in the voluntary organization for a number of years and while away, she always kept up to date with the branch’s activities. Having held numerous positions on the board and been regularly involved in national projects, she has always been keen to experience as many opportunities as possible.

After a busy year as deputy president, where the local organization hosted the JCI Ireland National AGM in January, along with the National Convention and National Friendly Business Awards in October, as well as several local events and charity fundraisers, the new president is looking forward to growing awareness around Junior Chamber International throughout the county.

A great supporter of JCI Mayo in recent years, Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Cllr Brendan Mulroy, was in attendance for the inauguration event, where he offered his well wishes for Áine’s year in office. Joining him in congratulating Áine were members of the Newport 300 committee and the Newport Business Association, who she hopes to collaborate with over the year, along with her family and friends.

At the inaugaration, McManamon gave a heart-warming speech, revealing that she is really excited about her #InspireGrowth plans for 2020. She said: "Part of the beauty of JCI is that you’ll do things you never thought you would do and I never would have thought that I’d be elected the JCI Mayo President for 2020. I have had the opportunity to grow my skills and my confidence through JCI and my aim is to see others gain as much as I have from this organization and grow in themselves."

JCI Mayo are actively recruiting new members and are looking forward to welcoming everyone to their next goal-setting event with Tara Rafter, well-known as the Navigation Coach, on January 28 in Castlebar. Tickets on Eventbrite and more details on their social media pages (@JCIMayo ).
