Don't miss Claremorris Musical 'Little Shop of Horrors'

It’s that exciting time of year again when the cast, chorus and crew of Claremorris Musical Society are busy putting the final touches to their 14th annual production to be staged in Claremorris Town Hall and Concert Theatre from January 29 – February 1 at 8pm nightly.

This year’s show is the dark comedy musical “Little Shop of Horrors” and CMS once again promises extremely high standards of acting, singing and dancing to audience members.

Claremorris Musical Society is delighted to have welcomed so many new members this year with some travelling not just from the Claremorris region but from all around Mayo and County Galway.

CMS is thrilled to once again have the creative talents of such a talented and experienced Production Team in Deirdre Lee (Musical Director ), Donna Ruane (Director ) and Jay Molyneux (Choreographer ) - all of whom have been hard at work ever since audition day last September while working tirelessly behind the scenes is the hardworking committee of Sophia Sheridan, June Allison Keane, Vivienne Lee, Michael Goulding, Joan McNicholas and Carmel Leonard.

This is a show full of dark humour, wonderful scoring by Alan Menken and great visual effects. Alongside a wonderful chorus of Skid Row inhabitants, the story centres around shy amateur botanist Seymour Krelbourne (played by Stuart Barrows ) who spends his evenings in the basement of a failing flower shop owned by the gruff Mrs Mushnik (Vivienne Lee ) on urban Skid Row. Seymour dreams of developing a never-before seen special plant to attract business and save his much-needed job. His only other work perk is being with floral designer Audrey (Stephanie Cassol ), a lovely, sweet girl that looks for love but lands a ‘not so nice’ boyfriend - Orin Scrivello, DDS (David Alexander ).

Seymour's salvation falls to earth in the form of a man-eating plant from outer space - Audrey 2 (Kevin Murphy ) with the power to give poor Seymour everything he lacks in life. It appears to have a craving that can only be satisfied by human blood and soon Audrey 2 begins to sing for his supper! Can Seymour satisfy the plants cravings to ensure the continued success of Audrey 2 and Mushnik’s Flower Shop?

CMS wishes to acknowledge and thank the continued support of all the companies, businesses and shops that have come on board as generous sponsors this year.
