By kind permission of the Drama League of Ireland, Parke Drama Group is delighted to perform The Year of The Hiker in Parke Community Hall on Friday, January 17 and Saturday, January 18 at 8pm each evening.
The Year of the Hiker written in 1963 by John B. Keane, tells the moving story of a man nicknamed the Hiker who returns home looking for forgiveness from the family he walked out on 25 years ago. The Hiker Lacey returns on a special day in the life of the family he abandoned.
This masterpiece by Keane is filled with yearning and regret for lost love, the play contains some of Keane’s most lyrical and tender writing. This is a beautiful play, with the gags and humour failing to mask the sense of hurt and futile loss of lives not fully lived.
As always with Parke Drama Group you can be assured of superb performances all round. So, if you are looking for a great night’s entertainment please come along on either night. Tickets cost just €10 and are available at the door, doors open each night at 7.30pm with curtain up at 8pm.
