Soogroo Children’s Arts Festival launch
The launch of the Soogroo Children’s Arts Festival will be held in the Gateway Hotel, Swinford on Sunday April 19 at 5pm. The festival will be launched by the Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Councillor Joe Mellett. This will be followed by a performance by local children who attended Sean Nos dancing workshops, drama workshops and bodhran workshops as part of the festival. Special guest at the launch will be a young man from Swinford, Joseph McNulty, who is World Bodhran Champion 2008 and he with a group of young musicians from the Swinford/Foxford area will do a traditional music session under the guidance of Foxford teacher John McHugh. Light refreshments will be served and young and old are welcome to attend, so if you are free and enjoy traditional music why not drop in. This event is free.
