McHale Rovers take next step in All Ireland quest across the water

Ladies Football: All Ireland Ladies JFC Quarter Final

MacHale Rovers are the last women left standing from the Mayo in club action - the amalgamation of Crossmolina, Lahardane and Ardagh will be flying the flag in Didsbury in Manchester on Sunday when they take on All Britain Champions Oisín in the Ladies Football All Ireland Junior Quarter Final.

The Mayo side booked their place in the quarter final stages of the competition seeing off Galway champions Claregalway 4-8 to 0-11 in the Connacht final played in Ballyhaunis a fortnight ago; that followed on from their success in the Mayo final where they beat Tourmakeady to claim the club's first adult championship title.

In their Connacht final win, Mayo star Rachel Kearns was their scorer in chief, hitting 1-5, with Sinead Walsh chipping in with 2-1 and Rebbaca Maughan hitting 1-1 for the north Mayo side.

On Sunday they'll take on an Oisín outfit who won the All-Britain title, seeing off St Anthony's 8-13 to 1-3 at the end of September. Jennifer Noone was the top scorer for Oisín in that game, hitting 3-4 with Siobhan Polly bagging 3-3 in that win for the Manchester based side. The winners will play in the All Ireland semi-final over the weekend of November 9/10.
