Castlebar and the National Spring Clean

The National Spring Clean is now in its 11th year and is Ireland’s biggest anti litter campaign.

National Spring Clean encourages people from all walks of life to take pride in their local environment and to take action against litter. The campaign relies on the support from volunteers to make it a success.

As part of the campaign the Castlebar town committee are organising a clean up on Monday April 27. They are inviting schools, the local authority, businesses, sporting organisations, youth groups, voluntary groups, individuals and residents’ associations to become involved. Choose an area nearby to you, get family, friends and colleagues to come out and do a little. As well as cleaning have some fun, meet the neighbours and contribute to the local environment.

The challenge for the next 10 years is to renew the importance of recycling litter. In order to coordinate the clean-up the committee invite those taking part to contact any member of the committee to arrange with the town council for the collection of the litter. A limited number of bags and gloves are available. For further information contact 087 772 4419 or 086 602 4914.
