Roxboro Community Defibrillator, Ballinrobe, has received €389.46 from the Tesco Community Fund, thanks to shoppers who supported the recent token appeal in the local store.
“This is a great boost for us as it will help with the ongoing cost of maintaining the defibrillator and training more people in how to use it. We are very grateful to Tesco for including us in the scheme. Customers were very generous, too, as they earmarked us for their ‘blue tokens’ in the store, which resulted in the total of almost €400,” said Cathy Lydon, chairperson, Roxboro Defibrillator Committee.
The community defibrillator was installed at Roxboro National School, just outside Ballinrobe, earlier this year. Sixteen locals have been trained in how to use the equipment.
