Crow Black Chicken and Johnny Gallagher and the Boxtie Band coming back to Castlebar

Saturday week October 5 sees the welcome return to Garbos, Mayo Leisure Point Moneen, Castlebar of Crow Black Chicken and on Saturday October 19 the venue showcases Johnny Gallagher and the Boxtie Band - a man who first played here in the legendary Desperate Dans.

Crow Black Chicken are lead singer Christy O’Hanlon, Stephen McGrath on bass with Gev Barrett on drums. A power trio combining elements of folk and hard rock with the blues rock blast of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Zeppelin.

Since their last appearance Crow Black Chicken have supported ZZ Top at TheMarquee in Cork, played Glastonbury twice and obtained a top five album in Classic Rock blues chart. The band continues to tour all over Europe and still finds the time to release albums like 2015’s Deep South and Pariah Brothers in 2017.

It doesn’t end there though and earlier this year they were voted the “best act” by the audience of the Introducing Stage at The Great British Rock and Blues Festival. Consequently they will be returning in 2020 for an appearance on the festival’s main stage. Words alone cannot convey the musical dynamics and chemistry of thistrio and the only way to truly experience this is by seeing them live.

Doors open on the night at 10 and tickets are €10 and available on the door or at www.ticeketweb.ie

Johnny and his Boxtie band are getting ready to put on show to remember

Widely acknowledged as one of the finest guitar players touring the European circuit, Johnny Gallagher with the Boxtie Band is a full on rock'n’roll show combining his own material with stunning personal versions of selected classics.

His guitar playing covers a unique range of rock styles and country pickin, with which he can naturally and masterfully turn himself into a true blues man. To top it all, Johnny possesses a truly unique and expressive voice which show cases his songs with the dynamics to swoop from a scream to a whisper.

The Boxtie band packs the double punch of Pauric and James Gallagher - the twin brothers of Johnny Gallagher who have toured extensively all over Europe. Jamesp lays a solid consistent punchy bass, always powerful and never too busy. Pauric switches between his unorthodox organ and boogie piano style while Johnny displays his wizardry on both electric and acoustic guitars.

The Boxtie Band have a force that doesn't appear out of nowhere, Its like an ageing process that takes time to mature. They also visit the unknown on stage, ad-libbing, jamming, improvising and that's the magic at all their live shows as it also gives the audience the power to express themselves. That's the ultimate connection, that's what its all about. Its plain and simple Rock 'n' Roll..
