An Taoiseach to visit Mayo today

Senator Michelle Mulherin confirmed earlier this week that An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, has accepted her invitation to come to Mayo today, September 20, when he will visit Ballina, Knock and Castlebar.

Senator Mulherin said: "I am delighted to have been in a position to work with local companies and Mayo County Council to arrange a number of official functions to be attended by An Taoiseach, all which are positive news for the economic and social growth of Mayo.

"The Taoiseach will come to Ballina for a site visit to the Military Barracks and report progress on the development of the €7m Digital and Innovation hub under the Project Ireland 2040 Urban Regeneration and Development Fund.

"He will officially open the €11.2m newly overlaid runway at Ireland West Airport Knock. He will also officially open the second building at Fort Wayne Metals, Castlebar, which provides an additional 48,000 sq ft for the company, which has grown from 16 employees in 2005 to 96 employees and is supported by the IDA."
