Mayo players included in Connacht under-age squads ahead of inter-provincial series

A large number of up and coming Mayo rugby players have been included in Connacht squads for upcoming inter-provincial fixtures.

Mayo will be represented in the Connacht u18 side for their inter-provincial series by Fiachna Barrett (Ballina RFC / St. Brendans, Bellmullet ), Conal Muldoon (Westport RFC / Rice College ), Kacper Palamarzcuk (Westport RFC / Sligo Grammer ) who will also captain the side and Harry West (Ballina RFC / Kings Hospital ).

The side will be based at the University of Limerick where over a week the competition will be run off. Their opening game comes this Saturday against Ulster (kick off 3pm ) before they face Leinster on Wednesday, August 21 at 5pm. They complete their campaign with a meeting with Munster on Sunday, August 25 at 3pm.

Ballina duo Alan Duffy and Caolan Hopkins have been named as part of Connacht’s u19 squad for their inter-provincial series which will kick off against Munster in Thomond Park on Friday, August 16 at 4pm. They will then welcome Leinster to the sports ground on Wednesday, August 21 at 2.30pm before finishing off the series away to Ulster in Barnhall on Sunday, August 25 at 1.30pm.

Twelve Mayo players have been picked as part of Head Coach Fraser Gow’s Connacht U18 Girls squad for the 2019 Inter-Provincial Championships.

The players from Mayo are: Molly Ager (Claremorris Colts RFC ), Grace Browne Moran (Westport RFC ), Aisling Hahessy (Claremorris Colts RFC ), Eva McCormack (Westport RFC ), Chloe McGing (Westport RFC ), Mary McLoughlin (Westport RFC ), Katelyn Bourke (Ballina RFC ), Aisling Browne (Westport RFC ), Caoimhe English McNamara (Westport RFC ), Katie Hogan (Westport RFC ), Nina McVann (Ballina RFC ) and Ava Ryder (Westport RFC )

The championship begins this Saturday with a trip to NUIM Barnhall to face Leinster a 2pm. Their sole home fixture comes against Munster on Saturday , August 24 at The Sportsground at 1pm as part of a double header with the senior Womens team, before a trip to Queen’s University to face Ulster one week later. Like the Womens Interpros the competition will also be decided by two semi-finals and a final which is being run following the completion of the round robin stage.
