Ticket frenzy has taken over the county with the news this week that the capacity for Mayo's do-or-die clash with Donegal in MacHale Park on Saturday week is set at 25,369.
The Mayo GAA County Board confirmed the figure was set by the GAA because the game is a stand-alone general admission fixture without assigned seating in the ground. County Board PRO, Paul Cunnane, told the Mayo Advertiser: "We would love to get as many Mayo fans into the ground as we could and as many supporters into the town for the day, but our hands are tied with what we have had the capacity set at."
The Super 8s game is a de-facto All Ireland qualifier with Mayo needing to beat Donegal to book a place in the All Ireland semi-final the following weekend against either Dublin or Tyrone in Croke Park. A large number of tickets have been snapped up for the game already with no tickets available for sale online yesterday (Thursday, July 25 ) while clubs in the county will be distributing their tickets to club members in the coming days.
