Croagh Patrick climb to raise funds for youth mental health

A call has been issued for communities throughout Mayo, including public representatives, to sign up for a climb of Croagh Patrick, taking place tomorrow, Saturday July 20, to help raise funds for Jigsaw, the youth mental health charity.

Competing to reach the top in this, the 10th anniversary of the event, will be Presidents of Insurance Institute chapters around the country, who will be wearing the full regalia of their offices. Brokers Ireland, which represents 27 Mayo member firms and 1,250 firms nationally, is organising the event and report that, so far, over 100 have registered.

Diarmuid Kelly, Brokers Ireland Chief Executive, said the event is one of the highlights of the year, saying: "It’s a great opportunity for people to get together, challenge themselves, have some fun and in the process contribute to the important work Jigsaw is doing with young people throughout the country."

Jigsaw is dedicated to helping advance the mental health of young people in Ireland aged 12-25 by influencing change, strengthening communities, and delivering services through evidence-informed early intervention. Jigsaw offers a variety of workshops for young people, parents and guardians; teachers and people who work or volunteer with young people as well as health professionals.

The charity caters for a broad range of needs but all have the key aim of changing how we think about and support young people’s mental health. To ensure sufficient funds are raised there will be an entry fee of €30 per climber, which will go directly to the charity.
