JCI Mayo is looking for friendly businesses

Ireland is famous all over the world for its one hundred thousand welcomes (Céad Míle Fáilte ) and now JCI Mayo is on the hunt for Mayo’s Friendliest Business.

Do you know a business that makes you smile every time you use their service? If you do, don’t keep it a secret! Support your friendly business by nominating them for the JCI Mayo Friendly Business Awards Competition.

The JCI Mayo Friendly Business Awards seeks to recognise the important role played by small businesses in the continuous development and improvement of our economy and local communities. The competition aims to award businesses that go the extra mile and provide an outstanding service to their customers and their community at large. It is particularly important in this economic environment to highlight businesses that don't allow their standards to slip and continue to provide quality services.

Charlotte Murray, President of JCI Mayo said: "These awards are very special, they recognise small and large businesses that go above and beyond for their customers and communities. Profit margins and turnover are not our focus.

"How do your customers view your business and how they feel using your service are the things we focus on. The extra mile and the above and beyond things business owners and staff are doing day-to-day that are not recognised half enough are so important. We are so lucky in Mayo to have a massive selection of businesses that are so deserving of these awards."

Áine Mc Manamon, JCI Mayo Deputy President says: "By supporting a small local business, you are not only boosting the local economy but also supporting the local community. Keeping smaller-sized businesses open will help not only create jobs but also sustain them as well as keep the community bustling with shoppers and tourists."

These awards will be judged on seven categories that have the customer at the center of the business: (1 ) Age Friendliness: Does the business make services easily accessible to their targeted ages brackets and consider people of all ages; (2 ) Community Impact: Does the business give something back to the local community?; (3 ) Customer Care: How helpful and courteous is the business when serving customers?; (4 ) Digital Experience: How well does the business use digital avenues to help its customers?; (5 ) Disability Access: How does the business make itself accessible to all customers?; (6 ) Eco-Friendliness: How well does the business serve the environment and local economy?; and (7 ) Shop Layout and Design: How clean, attractive and well-presented is the business?

The closing date for nominations is Tuesday, July 16. More information about the project can be found on JCI Mayo Facebook page or online - https://www.jciireland.ie/page-friendly-business-awards.html. To nominate a business please contact Eamonn by email at [email protected] with the details of the business and why you think they should be crowned as JCI Mayo’s Friendly Business for 2019.

Each JCI Branch then puts forward a short list of local winners to be considered for JCI Ireland National Friendly Business Awards. This will take place during the JCI Ireland National Convention, which this year will be hosted by JCI Mayo in Westport from October 11 to 13, 2019.
