Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, has confirmed that Partry Community Choir and Ceol na Locha, Tourmakeady, have been successful in qualifying for Government funding. Each group is to receive €2,000 under the Government’s Non-Mainstream Music Education Bursary Scheme.
The Non-Mainstream Music Education Bursary scheme provides a means, by way of a small cash grant, to support music education and music initiatives to continue to cultivate the talent of young musicians. These organisations, groups and individuals provide access to a variety of music education experiences for young people and children.
Minister Ring said: "I am delighted that Partry Community Choir and Ceol na Locha will be provided with this bursary which will help nurture their talented young musicians. I wish to acknowledge the commitment of the many volunteers in both organisations who give their time and skills to work with the young musicians to help them reach their full potential."
