Irish owned IT solutions and managed services company, Arkphire, has announced its plans to accelerate the development of its cloud services business in the West of Ireland, with the creation of 15 new jobs.
The expansion represents an investment of more than €1.7m over two years. The news follows Arkphire’s acquisition last year of CloudStrong, a specialist cloud solution provider based in Castlebar. Having consolidated the CloudStrong business into a new Cloud Services division within the enlarged Arkphire Group, this latest move is part of Arkphire’s ambition to continue scaling the business and building out its cloud technology expertise from its hub in Castlebar in the West of Ireland.
The expansion of Arkphire’s cloud services business will support the growing demand for cloud technology in Ireland. According to the latest IDC Cloud Spending Guide, global spending on public cloud services and infrastructure is expected to reach $210 billion in 2019 – an increase of 23.8% over 2018. Cloud computing enables businesses to securely access data from any location worldwide and from any device with an internet connection.
This jobs announcement by Arkphire will bring the workforce in Castlebar to 27 and to over 115 employees for the company as a whole. According to Paschal Naylor, CEO at Arkphire: "The new investment in recruitment will provide Arkphire with the ability to do more for our customers by expanding our cloud service portfolio so we can support them in accelerating their journey to the cloud across all of the major public cloud platforms covering Amazon, Microsoft and Google. Now more than ever businesses are investing in cloud technologies, with market research showing that over a quarter of IT budgets go to cloud services.”
As part of this latest recruitment drive, Arkphire is hiring for a variety of roles including digital transformation consultants, cloud engineers, data analysts, support desk engineers and marketing. To attract new talent into the business, Arkphire has also launched its ‘Cloud Acceleration Internship Program’, designed to facilitate apprenticeship type training and development for people who are looking to fast-track a career in this growth industry and who may not have already taken the traditional route through specific third level training and qualifications.
"This company internship route provides an excellent opportunity for many of our local people to consider pursuing another exciting career option that may not have been a possibility up to now” said Oliver Surdival, Head of Cloud Services at Arkphire.
Arkphire has established a position as Ireland and the UK’s largest Microsoft cloud specialist. To date, the company has helped more than 30,000 Irish and UK workers successfully move to the Microsoft cloud with customers such as TG4, Portwest, Boston Scientific and TopFlight availing of Arkphire’s cloud services offering.
