Ballina Dramatic Society in association with Keepsake Theatre present Welcome to the Stranger for one night only, tonight, Friday, April 19, at 8pm in the Town Hall Theatre in Westport.
Welcome to the Stranger is a tale that draws you gently and with grim humour into the lived experience of the Famine and recounts the extraordinary journey of an American woman, Asenath Nicholson, who witnessed the ravages of the Famine in Mayo and left an unflinching account of her experience.
For this unique production featuring 19 local actors, playwright Rua Breathnach and Belgian director Rémi Beelprez have created an epic play that casts new light on the most traumatic event in modern Irish history.
Following a very successful run at Ballina Arts Centre last week, Welcome to the Stranger runs for one night only at the Town Hall Theatre, Westport tonight, Friday, April 19 at 8pm. Tickets €12 on sale from www.westporttheatre.com or by calling (098 ) 28459.
