Seán Keane and Mayo Concert Orchestra Easter Sunday concert in Claremorris

Seán Keane and the Mayo Concert Orchestra will perform a concert in aid of the Regina's fight for life campaign in The Claremorris Town Hall Theatre on Easter Sunday, April 21. All proceeds will go directly toward Regina's Duffy's on-going Cancer treatment fund.

Regina (38 ), who is from Westport, was diagnosed with Cancer for the third time late last year. Prior to her Cancer diagnosis, she was teaching in St Colman's College in Claremorris. Unfortunately Regina’s cancer is rare and difficult to treat. Her only chance of a successful outcome is to seek treatment abroad, which has brought her to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York. The world leaders in her cancer care are based there and are currently engaged in research and developing new treatments.

Regina married Tuam man, Jason Donoghue, in March 2018 and Jason has extended sincere thanks to Seán Keane and the Orchestra. "I just want to thank Seán and the Mayo Concert Orchestra for this fantastic gesture. Regina and her family are huge fans of Seán for years and they have seen him in concert numerous times. I know some of Regina's family and close friends will be in attendance. This Concert will go a long way towards helping Regina cover her medical costs and we are all very grateful."

The Concert is being organised by some of Jason's friends from Tuam, including Jason's close friend Damien Dunleavy. "We are delighted that Sean offered to do the gig and that the Mayo Concert Orchestra have come on board, We cannot thank them enough. Claremorris is the perfect location with Regina teaching in St Colman's and a big crowd expected to travel from Westport and Tuam and all the places in between. We are overwhelmed with the support we received so far and we know this is going to be a sell out so we really can't express our gratitude to everyone enough".

Seán Keane has been collaborating with Mayo Concert Orchestra on tour since 2018 and the shows have received rave reviews.Welcoming the invitation to provide accompaniment, Mayo Concert Orchestra Musical Director, Kathy Fahey, said orchestra members were very much looking forward to the night.

“Seán Keane is one of Ireland's finest singers who comes from a big family of musicians. He is an amazing artist. Last year he sold out the national concert hall for one of his performances – it holds 2,000 people - so that speaks volumes. He is a household name, everybody knows him and he is world travelled, with regular shows in the US and Europe and all around the UK. It is wonderful to be invited to accompany him again for this special night for Regina, we are really looking forward to it."

Sean Keane and the Mayo Orchestra concert in Aid of Regina's fight for life takes place on Easter Sunday, April 21 in the Claremorris Town Hall Theatre. Doors open 7pm for the show at 8pm.
