Brilliant medal winning success for Mayo AC at National 10k Championships

It was an early start for Mayo AC members when their team of 16 competed in the 2019 National 10k Championships incorporated in the Great Ireland Run in the Phoenix Park on Sunday morning last.

Athletics Ireland had announced a “new and improved route” which seemed to suit competitors and produce better times.

All 16 Mayo AC runners produced top class performances and the club had brilliant success when Athletics Ireland announced championship results — four individual medal winners plus W50 winning gold and the W35 winning silver.

The four individual medal winners were: Norah Newcombe - bronze W35, Colette Tuohy - gold W50, Pauline Moran gold - W60, and Mags Glavey - silver W65. The team gold medal went to the W50 team of Pauline Moran, Angela O'Connor, and Ann Murray in a time of 2:09.37, the W35 team of Norah Newcombe, Colette Tuohy and Paula Donnellan in a time of 2:01.16 won the bronze medal for the team event.
