Mayo County Council is delighted to announce Irish band Keywest as headliners of the music stage at this year’s #MayoDay Festivities at the Museum of Country Life, Turlough, Co Mayo, on Mayo Day, Saturday, May 4.
Keywest is a multi-award winning, multi-platinum selling band from the UK and Ireland. They are a four-piece band based in Dublin that has created an infusion of folk, rock and pop. The band is made up of Andrew Kavanagh (vocals ), Andrew Glover (guitar/keys/vocals ), Jimi Lock (lead guitar ) and Harry Sullivan (drums/percussion ).
They began playing on the cold streets across Ireland "busking" initially just to survive and pay the rent. They have now sold over 150,000 CDs through their own independent label, reached number one in the Irish album charts and toured across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
Mags Connell, #MayoDay 2019 Project Manager, welcomed the announcement. “It is a great coup for us to announce an act like Keywest as headliner of our #MayoDay celebrations in Turlough House. They are one of the fastest rising Irish acts and with some other strong Mayo support acts, the day promises to deliver some brilliant entertainment.”
Lead singer, Andrew Kavanagh said the band is looking forward to their Mayo Day performance: “It’s always a gig to look forward to when we head to the West of Ireland and to be headlining a fantastic day like Mayo Day in the beautiful surrounds of Turlough House, is something we are looking forward to immensely.”
Mayo Harpist, Lisa Canny, The Midfield Pipe Band, Cronin, Hit Machine Drummers, Tommy Stenson- Sean Nós Dancer and Castlebar singer-songwriter, Aiden Bolger, will also perform on the day.
