The elected members of the Castlebar Municipal District will hold a special meeting to discuss the issue surrounding the potential lowering of the speed limit around Breaffy village.
Cathaoirleach of the district Independent Cllr Michael Kilcoyne called for a special meeting to be held on foot of correspondence from Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
Cllr Kilcoyne hit out at the correspondence from TII which said that certain documentation was missing from a submission made by local authority in relation to the potential reduction of the speed limit.
There was support form councillors across chamber for the holding of a special meeting, with Cllr Blackie Gavin saying there was widespread anger from people in the area in relation to the issue and he had been hearing about it on the doorsteps while out on the canvas.
The members agreed to hold the special meeting at 10am on Tuesday, April 23.
