Mayo Athletic Club sent a team of five athletes to take part in the Connacht Indoor Senior/Masters Championship which took place in the Athlone IT Arena on Sunday last.
In the women’s 400m, Noelle Kilduff finished a brilliant fourth overall and first W35 in 69:77 – winning a gold medal. In the 200m she came fourth W35 in 31:41.
In the men’s 60m there were three heats. Declan Owens finished fourth senior in his heat in 7:80. He came seventh overall in senior 200m in 25:09 run over four heats.
Cormac Kearney ran in the third heat, finishing in a new personal best of 7.76 and first in the M35 for gold – a great result. Sean Hynes also ran in heat two of the senior 60m, finishing fifth in 8:35. He came fourth overall in senior men’s 400m in 56:84 – second in heat two.
Sean also ran in the senior/masters 1500m – finishing sixth overall and first senior in 4:32.33 to win gold. There were two heats in the senior/masters 800m. Tony O’Malley came home with silver M35 with an excellent 2:20.24 finish.
