Bakery worker found in possession of cannabis

A 22-year-old Polish national, who was searched by gardaí and was found in possession of cannabis, was convicted and fined €250 at Ballinrobe District Court sitting in Castlebar last Friday.

Lukasz Polom 36 Hazelcourt, Convent Road, Ballinrobe, was searched by Garda Niall Ward under the Misuse of Drugs Act on Saturday August 23 2008 at 1.21am on Church Lane, Ballinrobe. A brown paper bag in his back pocket was found, with later analysis showing that it contained €15 worth of cannabis.

The defendant, who has no previous convictions and works in a bakery in Balla, said that the drugs were for his own use. Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined Polom.
