A Mayo farmer who had a hip replacement just seven weeks ago is to appear on the National Lottery Winning Streak TV game show on RTÉ One this Saturday.
Chris Tansey, from Swinford, was given a gift of the lucky Winning streak scratch card by his daughter Corinna, which has landed him an appearance on the popular game show.
The Mayo man, who who was watching last week's show with his wife Irene and granddaughter, Shauna, said he has been receiving phone calls, good luck cards, letters, messages and good wishes since his name was announced and he has been on cloud nine.
Married for 43 years Chris has four adult children - Damien, Adrian, Nicola and Corrina, all of whom will be in the Winning Streak studio on Saturday to cheer him on. He is also a proud granddad and several of his 12 grandchildren will also be supporting him from the audience.
Chris had a hip-replacement operation seven weeks ago and is still in recovery but is feeling very well. A farmer who raises suckler calves by trade, his two sons have been helping him on the farm since his surgery. He is a big Mayo GAA fan and remains hopeful of Sam Maguire coming home to Mayo, even if he has been heartbroken so many times in recent years!
He has no plans for his winnings yet and isn’t even thinking about it until the cheque is in his hands!
A brand new-look Winning Streak scratch card is available in the 5,900 National Lottery retailers all over the country, where as well as the chance to appear on the Winning Streak TV game show, players who get three stars will also be in with a chance to win some great cash prizes up to €5,000.
