Ros na Rún is on the lookout for actors with cúpla focail to join the cast for the upcoming 14th season of the hit show! So if you’re a Gaeilgeoir with big ambitions to star in one of Ireland’s most popular drama series, Ros na Rún want to hear from you! With dramatic and exciting storylines in the pipeline, the producers are looking for an actor to fill the role of a womanising character who causes uproar when he works his charm on the female population of Ros na Rún! Ros na Rún are also searching for actors to play a larger than life elderly couple and a variety of smaller roles is also on offer. Auditions will be held on the Ros na Rún set in Spiddal, Co Galway, and fluent Irish is essential for all roles. More than 300,000 viewers tune in to Ros na Rún each week. Over the years, the programme has featured some of the most dramatic soap storylines in Ireland. Some of the plotlines which have shocked viewers over the 13 year history of the soap include the screening of the first gay kiss shown on Irish television, as well as under-age sex, teen pregnancy, and a web-cam pornography scandal. The programme has also dealt with many real-life issues including drink driving, memory loss, family feuds, organised crime, murder, domestic violence, rape, suicide, abortion, drug abuse, and infidelity. Ros na Rún, which means ‘Headland of the Secrets’ as Gaeilge, is filmed on a purpose built set in Spiddal, Co Galway, and some 120 people make up the staff of cast, crew, and extras. From August to February, three episodes of Ros na Rún are shot in two separate studios simultaneously, with all script writing, filming, and production taking place in the local area.
