Bernard O’Hara, author of the book Exploring Mayo, will deliver the next lecture in a series of lectures currently under way in Charlestown Library on Thursday, January 17 at 7.30pm.
The topic is ‘An Introduction to the Archaeological and Historical Heritage of County Mayo’ and O'Hara's recent book, which is in a second edition within a year of publication, provides a wonderful appreciation of Mayo’s rich archaeological, historical, religious and architectural heritage as well as a guide to attractions in the county.
Bernard O’Hara, a native of Killasser, now living in Galway, is a former lecturer, Head of School, and Registrar at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology. His previous publications relate to the history and heritage of County Mayo, such as Mayo: Aspects of its Heritage (ed. ), The Archaeological Heritage of Killasser, Co. Mayo, Davitt and Killasser: Heritage of a Mayo Parish.
Other publications include books on entrepreneurship, education and industrial relations. O'Hara is also a former President, treasurer, and long term committee member of the Galway Archaeological and Historical Society.
