Craggagh NS is a small rural school situated between Balla and Kiltimagh in central Mayo. Craggagh is a community that takes pride in its school, its environs and its achievements.
The school places great emphasis on developing the child as a whole and with this in mind they are very conscious that each child develops physically, mentally, socially, pastorally and aesthetically.
The school has a proud record of achievement academically and the aim is to ensure that its pupils are well prepared for Post Primary education when they leave the school.
The school staff has been extremely busy this past few months implementing a new Development Plan for the school. They have spent the past few months up-dating the school equipment including information technology, sports equipment, school library and musical equipment.
School Principal, Aingeal Uí Mhaicín, stated that it is the aim at the school to ensure that all pupils have the most modern and up to date resources available to enable them develop their individual talents and reach their full potential.
In implementing the Development Plan the school sought sponsorship from a number of sources and received an extremely positive response. The first phase of the development plan was rolled out just before Christmas when Gary Smyth presented the school with a wide range of new sports equipment. The school now boasts one of the most extensive stores of sports equipment of any rural school in Co Mayo.
The pupils of the school are looking forward to these coming weeks when they try out the new equipment. The school has produced many fine athletes in the past and hopes to produce many more. Further phases of the development plan will be rolled out over the coming weeks.
