Moylette looks to make a mark in homecoming bout

Castlebar will welcome home Ray Moylette tonight when he looks to pick up win number twelve of his professional career.

The Islandeady native will take on Mexican Christian Uruzquieta (17-4 ) for the WBC International Silver Lightweight title in the Royal Theatre, where he will have the full backing of a large home faithful.

The fight will be broadcast live on TG4 and there will also be live radio commentary on Mid West Radio - with a full card of fights on the night including Cork's Gary 'Spike' O'Sullivan who recently lost out to David Lemieux in Las Vegas in a massive middleweight fight.

This will be Moylette's 12th professional fight since turning pro back in March last year, since then he has racked up wins all in his outings and it will be only his second professional fight on Irish soil - with his last home appearance coming in the National Stadium when he beat Innocent Anyanwu on points.

Following a hectic 2017 where he had eight fights in seven months, Moylette has taken things easier this year with tonight's fight being his fourth bout of the year, having seen off Matt Doherty and Daniel Sostre in the US and Jorge Moreno in the UK.

His opponent made his professional debut in March 2009 and the 28-year-old heads into the bout on the back of a loss to Mathieu Germain in his last outing in June in Montreal for the then vacant International Boxing Federation North American Super Lightweight Title.

A victory for Moylette should see him move the WBC rankings bringing him a step closer towards a world title fight in the future - having captured world youth and European golds in his amateur days, Moylette will believe he has what it takes to make a similar step in the pro game.
