€19,200 raised through Kathleen Conneelly Memorial Walk

The proceeds of the 2018 Kathleen Conneely Memorial Charity Walk on Clare Island for Western Care were recently presented to the association.

This year’s event was the eleventh charity walk on Clare Island and attracted in the region of 220 participants. A very enjoyable day was had by all on the island.

To date, in the region of €180,000 has been raised for local and national charities and causes through the annual charity walk. This year’s event raised €19,200 for Western Care Day, Residential and Respite Services in Newport and Claremorris.

The association has extended thanks to all participants for their support in the charity walk, including the organising committee of Tom Cusack, Willie Murphy, Pat Conneely and their families, the Clare Island community, O’Grady’s Clare Island Ferry Company, O’Haire Coaches, Newport, Moran’s Coaches, Castlebar and the many businesses in Newport and Claremorris that provided sponsorship and support.

The 2019 walk on Clare Island will take place on Saturday, June 22 and this will be followed with a new walk on Inishturk two weeks later - two dates to put in the 2019 diary.
