Moylette getting ready for hometown showdown

Ray Moylette will be coming home for a WBC international title fight on Friday December 7 in the Royal Theatre Castlebar.

Moylette, who as an amateur won gold at the world youth championships and the European senior championships, will continue his progression in the professional ranks in this home town bout.

Moylette has a professional record of 11 wins and no defeats since turning pro and he will step up to a ten round contest for this WBC international title fight, in which victory over his opponent - whose name is due to be announced shortly - would see him shoot up the rankings.

It will be the Islandeady man's first home fight as a professional, after fighting three times in the UK, seven times in the US and once in Dublin, since stepping up to the professional game.

Speaking ahead of the announcement of his opponent and the full card Moylette said: "I'm honoured and excited to have the opportunity to be fighting at home in Castlebar. Not only will I showcase my skills to all my local supporters but I also can lay down a real marker for all lightweights around the world as I challenge for my first title.

"This is the stuff dreams are made of, fighting at home for a major belt. This is my time to become a household name around Ireland as this event, I believe, will be televised and I am currently in full-time camp preparing and making sure that we leave no stone un-turned.

"Through my amateur and professional career most of my fights have been overseas and I've never got to share my experiences or triumphs with all who are dearest to me. This is an event for the community and I promise to leave everything in the ring.

"I've had a lot of ups and downs in boxing and life itself and I want to show what hard work can achieve."
