A 30-year-old engineer who was involved in a traffic accident in Ballina was convicted and fined for drink driving at Ballina District Court this week.
On September 6 2008, Garda Joseph Newell responded to a call about a traffic accident on O’Rahilly Street, Ballina. On speaking to the driver of the car — Kieran Martin, 12 Lord Edward Street, Ballina — Garda Newell arrested him on the suspicion of drink driving. A subsequent breath analysis showed 84mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.
Judge Mary Devins fined Martin — who has one previous road traffic conviction — €600 and disqualified him from driving for three years.
