A day course in suicide awareness training will take place this Saturday, March 28, from 10am to 4.30pm in the Cúram Family Centre, Claremorris.
This day is aimed at members of the local community, voluntary and community groups, as well as family/friends affected by suicide. This course aims to increase awareness on the issue of suicide, challenge myths, and offer participants an opportunity to be more aware of warning signs, attitudes to suicide, trigger points, and prevention strategies.
Participants who complete the training will have the opportunity to access a two day ASIST (applied suicide intervention skills training ) in 2009/2010.

Want to get fit in Westport?
Following a successful Meet and Train session in Claremorris, Ballina, and Swinford, meet and train is now starting up in Westport on Tuesday March 31 at 7.30pm.
The meet and train programme being launched is aimed at bringing adults together to train with others of similar ability. The programme is suitable for beginners through to regular runners. You will be under the guidance of a leader who will set out a schedule suitable for your needs. The idea is to start off slowly at your level in a very enjoyable and social way and build on your fitness slowly and at your own pace and level. Parenting alone?
A speaker from the Citizens Information Centre will be in Ballina Family Resource Centre on Monday March 30 at 7.30pm to give a presentation on rights and entitlements for people who are parenting alone.
