Original eighties acts Kim Wilde, ABC, Heaven 17, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Altered Images, and Toyah come to Castlebar on Sunday April 12 to transport you into the eighties with their hit tunes ‘Kids in America’ and ‘I Want To Be Free’. The line-up for the Here and Now Tour April 2009 is one not to miss
Kim Wilde burst onto the music scene in 1981 with the new wave classic ‘Kids in America’, which hit number two in the UK singles chart. She topped the charts with her version of The Supremes' hit ‘You Keep Me Hangin’ On’. She has toured with Michael Jackson (1988 ) and David Bowie (1990 ).
ABC had three top 10 hits during 1982: The singles ‘Poison Arrow’, ‘The Look of Love (Part One )’, and ‘All Of My Heart’. With the release of their album Look of Love: The Very Best of ABC the group played a series of dates with Robbie Williams.
Heaven 17 fused funk and pop through a series of vital eighties albums and singles, gaining several chart successes and cult status along the way. Kid Creole and the Coconuts, led by August Darnell, incorporate a variety of styles, in particular American and Latin American, South American, Caribbean, Trinidadian, and Calloway, and were conceptually inspired by the big band era. This promises to be one energetic show of non-stop eighties entertainment. Tickets are available from €49.50 on www.ticketmaster.ie as well as from The Royal Box Office on 0818 300 000.
