An Garda Síochána, Castlebar, is setting up a new Business Watch scheme in the town under the Castlebar Community Policing Program. The is a proactive step to help local businesses, no matter what size, to have direct access to a dedicated Garda whose role is to specifically to help them.
Garda Michael Toland has started liaising with business owners in the town to listen to their concerns and put together a plan that will help them in making doing business in Castlebar an even better experience.
This fresh approach will see Garda Toland available for advice on any issues including crime prevention, how to deal with recurring concerns, compiling a list of key holders for business premises, meeting on a regular basis with the community to discuss current matters or even just be there to bounce any concern off.
This is a unique opportunity for businesses to meet a committed member and chat face to face. The success of the scheme depends totally on the buy in from the business people.
There is an open evening going to take place upstairs in Bridge Street on Thursday, June 21 at 6.30pm. Garda Toland will be there to launch this exciting plan and guest speaker on the night will be local businessman and Mayo footballer, Donal Vaughan.
