Mayo to hit the road to Limerick

GAA: All Ireland SFC Qualifiers

Mayo will make the trip to the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick for the second year-in-a-row for a qualifer game when they take on the Treaty county in round one, which will take place over the weekend of Saturday, June 9 to Sunday, June 10.

The game is expected to go ahead on Saturday, June 9 as Limerick are slated to play at home against Waterford in the Munster Hurling Championship the following day.

The draw which took place on Morning Ireland on RTE Radio One on Monday morning, pitted Mayo against the Munster men in the championship for the frist time in championship since 2002.

The sides met in round three of the qualifers that year in Hyde Park, with Mayo running out narrow winners on a scoreline of 0-13 to 1-9, with Conor Mortimer top scoring for Mayo that day kicking four points.

The Mayo team featured in goal in that game, current selcector Peter Burke alongside the likes of James Nallen, James Gill, David Heaney and former Mayo manager, James Horan who chipped in with three points in that win.

Mayo will be looking to get back on winning ways following their defeat to Galway in MacHale Park three weeks ago, while the following week Limerick were turned over by Clare at home, with the Banner county running out 1-23 to 0-14 winners in the Gaelic Grounds.
