Brigid Fox
I greeted the morning of April 5 with eager anticipation. This was the day I got to visit the Sirana Spa in the Sheraton Hotel, Athlone, and sample some of the wonderful treatments on offer there.
On arrival, I was greeted by Sinéad Farrell, the manager of this luxurious spa, who promised me a wonderful, treat-filled afternoon.
My opinions, thoughts and concerns were welcomed when filling out a brief consultation form, so that the staff could tailor the treatments to my individual needs.
I opted for the ‘Sirana Serene’ massage, that promised hydration and relaxation for my skin and muscles. With this, I was recommended the Elemis ‘Superfood Facial’ for glowing, moisturised skin.
Handed cute white slippers and a cosy robe, I was escorted into the fitting rooms.
After changing, I was given a quick tour of the beautiful spa. Warm, smelling of essential oils and with peaceful music and low lighting, this spa is the epitome of tranquility.
Heavenly gifts
If heaven is a place on earth, it is in the Sirana Spa.
After settling into the surroundings, I was guided by my therapist Chloe Moore to utter bliss. Entering a room with soothing lighting and calm music whispering in the back ground, I was expecting great things, and was not disappointed.
Chloe offered me comforts like water and asked me for my temperature preference, ensuring the entire experience was tailored for my relaxation alone.
This was followed by a brief discussion, which including choosing the best facial for my skin type - the ‘Superfood Facial’. This uses a wide range of Elemis products that boost hydration and brightness, and rid your face of any dullness or redness.
We began with the Sirana Serene body and back massage, which uses grapeseed oil to boost hydration in the skin. It left my body feeling soft, fresh and rejuvenated from head to toe.
The Superfood Facial followed and went down a treat. First Chloe used the Elemis Pro Radiance Cleanser, which is great for removing make-up without drying out your skin. This was followed by the Elemis Papaya Peel Exfoliator, which is ideal for sensitive skin, and left my complexion glowing.
For hydration, Chloe used Elemis Superfood Facial Oil and Hydra-Balance Day Cream to seep deep into the layers of my skin for a long lasting moisturised feeling.
While another Elemis product - the Exotic Cream Moisturising Mask - was doing its magic on my skin, Chloe applied the Pro-Collagen Advanced Eye Treatment, which acts to brighten eyes, giving them a refreshed appearance.
Washed, cleansed and moisturised, I was a new, softer woman! Before ending the session, Chloe talked me through some tips and advice on maintaining fresh, hydrated skin that will last a life-time.
Left to put on my robe and stretch my newly pampered legs, I was next guided to the Relaxation Suite for a quick sit down and refreshments.
Dinner with a view
After a brief rest, I was invited to experience the Sheraton’s beautiful food.
The staff were friendly, polite and welcoming, and had my previously ordered food ready on my arrival. I chose the Caesar salad, which was exquisitely displayed not to mention thoroughly enjoyable to eat.
With a choice of tea or coffee to end the dinner, the team a the Sheraton Spa have achieved a paradise of comfort and relaxation.
Quick dip
I was treated furthermore with a trip to the Sheraton swimming pool.
Greeted with smiles and friendly assistance, the pool’s numerous jets worked to ease the tension in my back, shoulders and legs. The showers, sauna and jacuzzi are just some of the exceptional services provided at the Sheraton’s pool area.
Final goodbyes
This package deal is priced at €139, food included. I had free reign of the pool and recreational facilities in the hotel, making it all the more worthwhile.
This spa experience is ideal for everyone, whether as a treat for the girls or guys on a weekend away, quality time with your partner, or simply to get away from the busy world for a few hours.
The attentive service truly makes this spa treatment extra special. The team at the spa have a real passion for the work they do, and they should be proud of what they have accomplished here. We are privileged to have such amazing facilities in our area, and should take full advantage of them.
