Music for the little ones at the Arts Centre

Roscommon Arts Centre will present 'Trad Babies' on Saturday, April 14, in association with the Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo, and The Dock, Carrick on Shannon.

This joyful introduction to traditional music for little ones is designed specifically for babies and toddlers aged up to three years.

This concert is one of a number of music events presented by Roscommon Arts Centre for babies and toddlers during the last two years. Previous events such as 'Santa Babies', 'Beethoven Babies' and 'Bossa Nova Babies' have proven extremely popular.

This time around it is the turn of traditional musicians Noelle Carroll (singer/flute ) and Mossie Martin (fiddle ) to enchant and delight babies, parents and grandparents alike. In this rich musical experience, babies will be introduced to a gentle selection of traditional tunes, in a safe, secure and child friendly environment. The concert will last about 45 minutes.

Fiddle player Mossie Martin and singer/flute player Noelle Carroll are rooted in the north Connaught music tradition. They have been performing together since 2008 as members of the All-Ireland winning Dartry céilí band, and are well-known exponents of the classic combination of fiddle and flute, Sligo style.

The Trad Babies event is broken up into two age groups: The group for babies up to 18 months old takes place at 12 noon, and the group for babies aged 18 months to three years takes place from 2pm.

Babies take part for free, while the event costs €10 for one adult and €5 for any additional adults. There is limited capacity for this event so pre-booking is advisable through box office.
