Easter holiday fun for little ones

With Easter just a few short weeks away, it may be time to think about how to keep your little and not-so-little ones entertained during the holidays.

Roscommon Arts Centre has a number of events taking place for children aged three to 12 years.

On Wednesday, March 28, at 2pm Cahoots NI, a Belfast-based children’s theatre company, will present Penguins, a family-friendly show for ages three and older. The show is based on the true story of Roy and Silo, two male penguins who lived at New York’s Central Zoo, who decide to try and hatch a rock in place of an egg and find themselves on an adventure that could mean raising a chick for real!

Penguins is a unique and engaging show for children about friendship, fun, identity and the ever-changing meaning of family.

Making a welcome return to the Arts Centre this Easter is Sharon Mannion, star or Bridget & Eamon, with her 'Comedy Camp for Kids'. Following on from the success of last Halloween’s comedy camp, Sharon returns to teach a variety of comedy performance skills to young people aged five to 12 years.

The camp runs on April 4 and 5 for children aged five to eight, and from April 3 to 6 for ages eight to 12.

There is another family-friendly theatre performance taking place at the centre at 2pm on Thursday, April 5, as Bombinate Theatre Company present Half Light, a heart-warming and hilarious show for children aged eight and older.

In Half Light, the children will be introduced to Robin, a 10-year-old boy who travels through the magical, fantastical woodland of his father’s storybook as he tries to find his dad, who may have been taken by a monster!
